Diablo III Reaper of Souls now ready for pre order!! UPDATED!
Happy New Year everyone!! And to start off 2014 right, our good friends at Asiasoft Philippines (Blizzards exclusive distribution partner for Diablo III in the Philippines) just shared with us the awesome news that starting today, you can now start pre-ordering digitally the much awaited expansion for the PC and Mac version of Diablo III in the Philippines!! :D

As shown in the teaser trailer, the upcoming expansion pack will feature:
- Act V: A dark and terrifying chapter sending players on a final confrontation with the Angel of Death; Malthael, itself!!
- The Crusader: A brand new class, that is highly reminiscent of the holy Paladin from Diablo II, that brings the might of the heavens upon those who seek its destruction.
- Increased Level cap from 60 to 70!! Also there will be new spells and abilities for all classes to unlock giving returning players more options in dealing punishment towards the denizens of hell.
- Adventure Mode: A new game mode that give players the freedom to go anywhere and slay anything. Perfect for leveling up or grinding in a particular quest/spot. :D
- Bounties: Randomized objectives that reward players in new ways for exploring the world of Sanctuary. Think sidequests... Diablo-style. :D
- Nephalem Rifts: Fully randomized dungeons offering endless replayability and heaps of amazing loot. Perfect for loot-runs and finding that ever so elusive legendary items youre looking for. :D
- The Mystic: A powerful new NPC that appears who will provide heroes with the ability to customize the look of their loot among others. Best suited for those fashion-savvy adventurers of Santuary. :D
- Loot 2.0: Yes its finally coming folks!! The much talked-about Loot 2.0 arrives with the expansion pack and with it the removal of the Real Money Auction Houses (RMAH) for much satisfying loot-runs in Sanctuary!!
And all of this amazing content comes with the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Standard Edition, which players can pre-order at a SRP of Php1,800!! Not too bad if I may say so, and its quite close to our estimates (we predicted it to be roughly around Php1,400) on our post regarding the price of the expansion pack once it hits our shores locally!! Im pleasantly surprised with this news and good job to our local distributor Asiasoft Philippines in keeping the price relatively affordable. :D
And to make the announcement even more awesome, we also have confirmation that Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Collectors Edition will also be arriving here in the Philippines!!

The Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Collectors Edition comes with the following bonuses for the hardcore Diablo III player:
- A full complement Diablo III helms, and weapons that are primed for transmogrification.
- A Ghost Wolf minion players can summon to keep them company on their journey.
- Three additional character slots to accommodate new heroes.
- A World of Warcraft in-game companion pet, the Treasure Goblin, ready to compete in Pet Battles.

UPDATE: It was previously announced that the Collectors Edition will be available for Php3,500 locally. However according to the official distributor of Diablo III here in the Philippines; tax, freight charges and other unforeseen expenses caused the price to bump up significantly, and the revised Philippine SRP will now be Php4,500.
We also now have the Philippine launch date. Diablo III: Reaper of Souls will be available nationwide on March 25th, 2014.

Developers Can Now Bring Their Android Apps to Chrome OS
Testing our own app with Google�s �ARC Welder� tool
Last year Google slowly began bringing select Android apps to the Chrome Web Store, allowing a batch of useful mobile apps to run on Chromebooks and other Chrome devices.
Android applications run on Chrome OS through a native client extension called �App Runtime for Chrome�, more commonly known as �ARC�, which runs Android codes at near-native speed through a sandboxed Dalvik VM.
In the months following the announcement of ARC over thirty Android apps have been added to the Web Store, including productivity powerhouse Evernote, PDF mark-up tool iAnnotate and social media fave Vine.
Some Chrome users have grown a little impatient at the slow rate of porting more desirable apps over (think Flipboard, VLC, Skype, etc) despite many lesser known utilities and educational tools wrangling their into the Web Store.
Today that changes.
ARC Opens To All
At its press event Google confirmed it plans to open the ARC programme to all Android developers, not just a select few. This means developers themselves can now dive in to test their Android app in Chrome against the ARC plugin to see what works and make changes, like adding support for keyboard tab keys and mouse input, as needed.
Finally, if all works as intended, they are free to promptly publish it to the Chrome Web Store for users to enjoy.
And there�s you thinking it was all new convertible Chromebooks and low-cost Chromebits announced!
In unlocking the flood gates for Android app developers to bring their wares to Chrome OS Google risks seeing developers shun native Chrome Apps (written in web technologies, running offline, leveraging system hardware APIs, etc) in favour of lazy ports.
Similarly, with a big focus due on Service Workers, its plan to app-ify websites with offline and push messaging features, the need for a bona-fide �Web App� is also lessened.
But whatever mess it makes for a consistent developer story it does, for now, mean more apps for users, more opportunities for developers, and more momentum for the Chrome project.
How To Test Android Apps for Chrome Using ARC Welder
The official Chrome developer documentation details the full recommended way for Android devs to get started with ARC.
In short, developers need three things:
- An APK of the application they wish to test
- A PC, Mac or Chromebook running Chrome v40 or later
- The ARC Welder app from the Chrome Web Store
Installing the ARC Welder app from the Web Store also downloads ARC plugin itself (even on Windows, Mac or Linux). Since the plugin is more than 100MB in size eager mobile devs should only install it when not on a metered, cellular or slow connection.
Once up and running the ARC Welder app simplifies the entire process;
- Open ARC Welder
- Add .apk
- Set configuration values (layout, orientation, etc)
- Test
Google say developers should strive to ensure that an app works well for touch and non-touch Chromebooks, should ideally test on the Chrome OS Stable Channel and cautions that the plugin does not yet support all of Google Play Services yet.
ARC Welder allows .apk files to be quickly exported into a .zip file for easy submission to the Chrome Web Store.

Divine Intervention Now Mirth Control
Got a pretty incredible surprise in the mail the other day from Philly duo, Divine Intervention Now (see image below). To all of you collectors out there, Im sure the actual contents of the SD card hidden within a micro pink bible are pretty much irrelevant, but I can promise you the 6 track EP inside is well worth a listen. Acoustic guitar and Philip Mahoneys monophonic vocals lead the way on the record, but theres an excellent variety of instrumentation within. Their "manic-depressive" doomfolk is unlike anything else youve heard, and their knack for creating memorable releases (check out the "USBug Drive" release from a few years back) will always have me looking forward to their next great idea. I beg of you, support this band. Stream it below, and head over to bandcamp to grab a copy of your own for only $10.
