Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Out Tomorrow

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Out Tomorrow

Oh the 90s. Remember the days when schools were filled with kids arguing over which was better Pokemon or Digimon? Well, it looks like were going back! Tomorrow marks the release of the first Digimon game to be released over seas in quite some time, and theyre kicking things off in a bit of a different way. While the Digimon you may be familiar with was aimed at kids, this one takes a different approach instead. Namco Bandai realize that the old fans have now grown up, and rather than focusing on bringing new kids into the series, theyve released a game thats more enjoyable for teens and young adults -- especially ones who grew up with the series.

Rather than having kids running around with their digimon friends, this game lets you step into the shoes of a young hacker after they are pulled into a virtual world -- one where digital monsters exist, and not everything is as it seems. This world is one that is filled with hackers, and it isnt long before they use this cyber space to pull off attacks in the real world. Eventually the main character has his/her body half digitized, and they are thrown back into the outside as well. Here they meet with a detective who specializes in cyber related crimes, and their adventure begins.

As for the gameplay, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is one thats a mix of our everyday modern world, and a futuristic cyber world. While in the real world youll be able to visit multiple real world locations across Tokyo (where youll have access to shops and other necessary things), and youll also be able to send yourself into the cyber space of different electronics. Here the game takes on dungeon crawling gameplay where youll make your way to the end of each area, while fighting and collecting monsters along the way -- monsters that will make up your party as well. Since you yourself play as a "normal human," you cannot fight other monsters, but youre able to use ones that you have collected to fight instead. These monsters are issued commands in a turn based style, and they come in a wide verity with multiple ways to upgrade and evolve them. Its pure classic JRPG gameplay, mixed with collecting, dungeon crawling, and strategic battles.

Even if youre not a fan of Digimon (such as myself), this is a game that may be worth checking out. If youre a fan of turn based RPGs, or have ever been interested in a Digimon game in the past, now would be the time to check it out.

Destiny 2 Story Details Hint at Major Changes to Gameplay

Destiny 2 Story Details Hint at Major Changes to Gameplay

After months of rumors and speculation, Bungie finally unveiled the highly-anticipated Destiny 2 through a sharp looking CG trailer. Though no gameplay is shown, the trailer revolves around the story for the game as Zavala and Cayde-6 rally the remaining troops after a devastating Cabal attack on the Tower and Last City. Thanks to some new details, it looks as though players wont be these all powerful beings right out of the gate this time around.

According to the retail description for Destiny 2, the Cabal leader Ghaul has managed to strip the Citys guardians of their power, forcing many to flee as the city fell. The description goes on to reveal that players will be traveling to other worlds within the solar system to discover weapons and new combat abilities, ultimately reuniting the scattered heroes to confront the Red Legion.

According to Reddit user Tuinybadger, one of the rumored locations players will go to in Destiny 2 is Saturn, where the former Iron Lord Lady Efrideet, had been hiding out with a colony of other Guardians that no longer needed the Travelers light. Armed with this information, its possible that players may need to learn those techniques while also potentially discovering new skills and abilities through space travel as well.

The weakened Guardian theory also gained traction on Reddit where users discovered Cabal grimoire cards in Destiny that reveal that the group had been investigating ways to stop Ghost resurrection along with methods to suppress Guardian abilities. Going further, the theory is also supported by the initial promotional art for Destiny 2, which not only depicts the Last City on fire, but showing the Traveler, which looks to be in even worse shape than it was in the first game.

Interestingly enough, some fans were initially disappointed that their characters would not be transferring over to the next game. In addition to revealing a weakened state for all Guardians, the trailer also reveals that many Guardians were killed in the invasion, which certainly can be used as the reason that characters cannot transfer over.

Do you think this theory holds water or are you expecting to see a more traditional style gameplay loop? Share your theories with us below in the comments.

Destiny 2 launches on September 8, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

"We thought about going multi-platform with PlayStation 3, but doing so wouldve made the PS3 the standard. Since were making it, I want to be able to offer something that could only be done with the PlayStation 4. The number of characters that can be displayed at once has vastly grown. On the PlayStation 3 it was limited to 10 characters shown in high definition, but the PlayStation 4 can display 100 characters."
