Our exhaustive iPhone 6 review is enjoying a lot of attention and now its time to take a bit more attention on the phones battery performance. The iPhones have always boasted good battery life and users expect the iPhone 6 to be no exception.
The larger size of the iPhone 6 means room for a larger battery and the boost is significant. In comparison to the iPhone 5s, the iPhone 6 flaunts a 250mAh more capacity 1,810mAh vs 1,560mAh. In addition, the Apple A8 chip inside the iPhone 6 should be more frugal in power usage than its predecessor since its built on the 20nm manufacturing process. However, the 4.7? screen is bound to consume significantly more power than the old 4? panel and this is certainly going to take its toll when it comes to video playback and web browsing.
Lets start with the 3G talk time, where the iPhone 6 managed to score a time of 12 hours and 26 minutes. Thats an increase of an hour and 40 minutes compared to its predecessor. The iPhone 5s managed a time of 10 hours and 46 minutes back in 2013. The Galaxy S5 and LG G3 both have much larger batteries at 2,800mAh and 3,000mAh, respectively, so it is no wonder why their talk times are way higher. The Galaxy S5 does 21 hours and 20 minutes of talk time, while the LG G3 goes up a notch at 25 hours and 54 minutes. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha with its 1,860mAh battery manages a talk time of 13 hours and 20 minutes pretty close to that of the iPhone 6

In the web browsing portion of the test, the iPhone 6 scores a time of 10 hours and 29 minutes, nearly 30 minutes more than the iPhone 5s. That was a bit of a surprise for us, as we anticipated a similar or worse time here due to the larger display. However, with the improvements in Safari on iOS 8 and the more efficient A8 chip, it seems Apple managed to pull this one off.
When it comes to the competition, both the Galaxy S5 and LG G3 lag behind. The Galaxy S5 manages to last 9 hours and 36 minutes, while the LG G3 and its QHD display squeezed managed just 6 hours and 40 minutes. The Galaxy Alpha is also behind here at 8 hours and 25 minutes.
